Veteran STV Chief Executive Simon Pitts is set to become the new Group CEO of Global, a leading media conglomerate in the UK that encompasses radio and Out of Home advertising. Pitts will assume the role from Stephen Miron, who will step into the position of chairman in 2025 after a 16-year tenure.

Prior to his time at STV, Pitts had an extensive 17-year career at ITV, holding various key positions such as director of strategy & transformation and managing director of online, Pay TV, interactive & technology.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the new role, Pitts remarked, “I am thrilled to join Global, a company I have long admired and been a fan of. Global stands out in the marketplace with its diverse portfolio that includes digital, audio, outdoor advertising, and some of the UK’s most popular radio stations, all of which foster a remarkable connection with their audiences. I am excited about the chance to contribute to a business that, despite its commercial achievements, continues to embody the spirit of a challenger, driven by creativity and innovation.”

Ashley Tabor-King CBE, the founder and executive president of Global, warmly welcomed Pitts, stating, “We are thrilled to have Simon Pitts on board as Global’s new Group CEO starting from the first quarter of next year. Simon brings to Global an impressive legacy of leadership, growth, and transformative success.

During his tenure at STV, he spearheaded a highly effective transformation, broadening the company’s revenue streams and operational scope to now include a burgeoning streaming service and a leading studios group, in addition to its traditional broadcast operations. Simon’s track record, coupled with his experience in a business model akin to Global’s, underscores his suitability for leading our company into its next chapter.”
