Uber and Carrefour have joined forces to enable drivers affiliated with the ride-hailing giant to utilize the electric vehicle (EV) charging stations provided by the French supermarket chain. The collaboration, revealed in a joint announcement on Tuesday, involves Uber’s investment of 300,000 euros ($323,400) to facilitate charging for its VTC (tourist vehicle with driver) drivers employing electric vehicles at Carrefour Énergies’ stations across France.
According to the statement released by both companies, VTC drivers utilizing Uber’s platform will enjoy preferential rates on Carrefour’s charging network, effective from January 1. This strategic partnership aims to support the adoption of electric vehicles among Uber drivers while promoting accessibility to Carrefour’s charging infrastructure.
