Women have the opportunity to apply for the “Riga TechGirls” mentor program until September 15. This program offers the chance to receive guidance from experienced mentors in the technology field for a duration of six months. Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in the information technology (IT) industry and engage in practical projects, as shared by “Riga TechGirls” representative Diāna Butina in an interview with LSM’s Latvian-language service.

The mentorship program provides participants with access to both local and international mentors who can assist in developing professional IT skills. This support is available to those taking their initial steps in the tech industry and individuals seeking to advance their existing tech careers.

Butina explained that the Latvian IT job market continually seeks new specialists across various technology sectors, but practical experience is often a requirement that can be challenging to obtain, particularly for individuals transitioning from other professions or fields.

The “Riga TechGirls” mentor program primarily takes place online and is conducted in English. Within the program, participants collaborate with their mentors while simultaneously engaging in projects to gain hands-on knowledge in various technological areas, including front-end and back-end development, mobile app development, machine learning, user experience (UX)/user interface (UI) design, quality assurance (QA), testing, engineering, business analytics, data science/analytics, cybersecurity, project management, product management, and IT support/DevOps.

Applications for both mentors and mentees are open until September 15 of this year on the “Riga TechGirls” website. The program aims to enroll and train approximately 200 women, with an estimated participation of around 180 mentors from various countries worldwide. The program is scheduled to run from January 4 to June 19, 2024.
