Gilead Sciences Selects Cow as Public Affairs Creative Agency for UK Operations

Independent creative communications agency Cow has been chosen as the public affairs creative agency for Gilead Sciences, a prominent biopharmaceutical company, in the United Kingdom. Cow will be responsible for developing and executing a creative campaign to showcase Gilead’s impact and narrative in patient treatment, community engagement, and care for life-threatening illnesses, including HIV, Hepatitis C, and cancer.

One of the primary focuses of the campaign will be addressing health inequality by highlighting Gilead’s efforts in patient care within communities and its contribution to reducing disparities. According to Cow, they aim to combine innovation, creativity, and corporate storytelling to portray the human stories behind Gilead’s work with patients and communities throughout the UK.

Alex Moore, Senior Director of Public Affairs at Gilead UK & Ireland, expressed that Cow stood out due to their drive, passion, and genuinely creative approach, making the decision to appoint them an easy one. He praised Cow’s ability to merge innovation, creativity, and corporate storytelling into compelling narratives that align with Gilead’s work with patients and communities.

Matt Wilcock, Managing Director of Cow, commended Gilead’s transformative therapies and patient care efforts, both locally and globally, and expressed the agency’s shared ambition to elevate the Gilead brand and demonstrate its positive impact on countless lives, particularly among patients who have faced stigma and inequality.

This significant client acquisition follows Cow’s recent success at the PRWeek UK Awards 2022, where the agency won the Best Campaign award in the Healthcare: Ethical & OTC Consumer category for their work with Swedish women’s intimate health brand Intimina. Cow has consistently triumphed in this category for the past three years. Additionally, the agency secured the Best Use of a Small Budget award for their work with the World Animal Protection charity.

Cow’s client portfolio includes renowned brands such as Heineken, Asda, and Nestlé. The agency’s impressive performance has led to its climb in the PRWeek UK Top 150 Consultancies 2023 rankings, breaking into the top 100 and rising from 106th place in 2022 to 88th place this year. In 2022, Cow achieved a revenue of £4.7 million, up from £3.5 million in 2021.
