Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced that the United Kingdom is taking a pioneering step by establishing the world’s inaugural Artificial Intelligence (AI) Safety Institute. This announcement comes ahead of an upcoming event where AI industry representatives, political leaders, and experts will convene.
The primary objective of this institute is to spearhead the advancement of global AI safety knowledge. It will play a pivotal role in meticulously scrutinizing, assessing, and subjecting new AI models to testing. By doing so, the institute aims to provide comprehensive insights into the capabilities of each novel AI model, addressing a spectrum of risks. These risks encompass everything from societal concerns like bias and misinformation to the most severe and extreme AI-related perils.
