Former Formula One communications chief, Matt Bishop, has announced the launch of his PR firm, Diagonal Communications, on June 21st.
With over 30 years of experience in Formula One and other motorsport series, Bishop’s career spans from being a journalist to serving as a communications chief for renowned teams such as McLaren and Aston Martin F1. In his new role as managing director, he aims to bring his expertise to Diagonal Communications.
Joining Bishop is former Daily Mail sports correspondent, Joe Downes, who takes on the role of business director. Downes brings his experience as a communications manager for the women-only motor racing series W Series and as an account director for the sports and entertainment agency CSM.
Additionally, Ann Bradshaw, senior consultant of Motorsport, and Tim Holmes, senior consultant of Automotive, will contribute to the Diagonal Communications team.
The agency’s services will encompass strategic communications, reputation management, media coverage generation, crisis communications advice, content creation, activation planning, media training, thought leadership guidance, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion counsel and leadership.
Bishop expressed his vision for Diagonal Communications, stating, “Our agency will provide strategic, sophisticated, authentic, and effective communications based on unparalleled knowledge and a passionate commitment to understand and address our clients’ challenges and objectives. With my extensive background in Formula One and motorsport media, communications, PR, content, and strategy, I’ve long aspired to establish a communications/content/PR/strategy agency.”
Diagonal Communications has received backing from Kimura Performance, a sports and esports acquisition, development, and project management company based in the City of London. Oliver Hall, CEO of Kimura Performance, expressed excitement about the new addition, emphasizing that it would enhance their existing capabilities and enable them to offer unique and innovative ways to engage with fans and communities through sport and esports.
